Government returns equipment of Radio Sagarmatha

 

The authorities on Wednesday returned all equipments of Radio Sagarmatha FM seized from the radio station on November 27.

Laxman Upreti, chairman of Radio Sagarmatha FM-- the first community radio station in South Asia-- told Nepalnews that they received all the equipments seized by the authorities from the radio station.

The police raided station and seized transmitting equipment from Radio Sagarmatha last month as it was relaying the transmission of the BBC Nepali Service.

BBC Nepali carried an exclusive interview with Maoist chairman Prachanda alias Pushpa Kamal Dahal on the day. The radio station had, however, aired music instead of Prachanda’s interview.

The government is yet to return equipment it had seized after raiding the Kantipur FM—a leading private sector radio station. nepalnews.com pb Dec 14 05
