Dr Giri offering wrong advice to the king: Former PM Thapa
Former Prime Minister and chairman of Rastriya Jana Shakti Party (RJP), Surya Bahadur Thapa, has alleged that top officials in the government including no. 2 in the royal council of ministers, Dr Tulsi Giri, are offering wrong advice to His Majesty King Gyanendra.
Addressing a meeting of his party workers in the eastern town of Biratnagar on Tuesday, Thapa alleged that the incumbent government was against understanding between the king and major political parties. He also urged the king, parties and Maoists to give up their respective positions and come forward to find a consensus.
Recently, Dr Giri had said the government would not reciprocate to the Maoist ceasefire and would not hold talks with the opposition parties as long as they continued to call for the end of what they call ‘autocratic monarchy.’
On Monday, addressing his party workers in eastern town of Damak, former premier Thapa said his party would not take part in the forthcoming municipal polls which was being boycotted by major political parties.
He said the royal takeover of February 1 had caused serious damage to the monarchy itself.
Thapa is currently touring eastern parts of the country. nepalnews.com by Dec 27 05
