Cold-related diseases claim 13 in Bajura; medical team mobilised
The Regional Health Directorate, Dipayal, has informed that it has mobilized a team of health workers with medicines to the remote Bicchaya village of Bajura in far western region to control cough and fever that had claimed the lives of 13 people including five minors in the last one month.
Talking to Nepalnews today, officer of the Regional Health Directorate Dr Rajendra Prashad Mishra informed that they had mobilized a team of health workers from the District health office Bajura to control the disease.
Padam Bahadur Bista, assistant at the Regional Medical Store responsible for sending medicine to the district, told Nepalnews that they had sent medicines of viral influenza to the district some two months ago.
Earlier, a report has said that at least 13 people have died of fever and cough in Bicchaya, a remote VDC in Bajura district, in less than a month.
Five of the villagers who died of cold-related diseases are children, according to Kantipur daily. The number of infected persons has been surging with the lack of medicines while the concerned health office has failed to take notice the spread of the disease.
