Although over 100 thousand Nepali workers are currently working in Qatar, more women and skilled Nepali workers are in demand there, reports said.
“Experts in construction related works are highly in demand here,” Kantipur daily quoted Badri Pandey, proprietor of a construction company in Qatar, as saying. “Nepal must gain from supplying skilled Nepalis in the field.”
As infrastructure development and construction works are significantly taking place in Qatar, experts in the field as civil engineers, overseers, drivers, carpenters, painters and electricians are highly in demand, reports quoting Nepalis in Qatar said.
Most Nepalis currently working in Qatar are engaged in construction industry as blue-collar workers and their pay is low, the report said.
Despite high demand and good wages, only a small amount of Nepali woman workers (about 500) are working there, according to Nepalis working in Qatar.
