Pandey meets Indian External Minister

Foreign Minister Ramesh Nath Pandey met the Indian External Affairs Minister, K. Natwar Singh, in New Delhi Monday afternoon.

New reports coming in from New Delhi said Pandey and the Indian External Affairs Minister sat for one-to-one in the afternoon, discussing the recent political development in Nepal and other bilateral issues. Foreign secretary Madhu Raman Acharya and Nepali ambassador to Delhi, Karna Dhoj Adhikari, and Indian foreign secretary Shaym Saran had participated a a separate session of the ministerial meet.

Following the meeting, Natwar hosted a luncheon at Haidarabad House in the honour of Pandey, reports said.

Pandey landed in Delhi this afternoon. Joint-secretary of the Indian External Affairs Minister, Ranjeet Rao, had received the Nepali delegation at the Delhi airport.

Before leaving for Delhi this morning, Pandey had told newsmen at the Tribhuvan Airport that his visit would be focused mainly on boosting bilateral ties and continuation of Indian assistance to Nepal.

The Foreign Minister’s visit termed as a 'working visit' is the first high-profile diplomatic visit to India after the Royal Proclamation of Feb 1. He will return to Kathmandu on March 9. nepalnews.com mbk Mar 07 05
