Maoists loot transmission equipment from FM station in Kailali
Maoist insurgents have looted transmission equipment from Ghodaghodi FM station at Attariya of far western district of Kailali overnight Thursday.
According to reports from Kailali, an armed group of insurgents entered the FM station and asked the security guards to lead them to the transmission room. They then looted most of the transmission equipment and fled.
The station, which has been on air from last year, was being run by BASE and was on the process of being handed to the local community.
This may be the first ever incident in the world that the insurgents have targeted a local FM station. Currently, there are over 50 local FM stations in Nepal. nepalnews.com pd/by May 20 05
