CIAA probing irregularities in public hospital

The Commission for Investigation of the Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has initiated investigation into the alleged irregularities committed by public hospital authorities while awarding rent of the stalls and shutters built within the premises of the hospitals to private pharmacies.

According to the CIAA sources, following the complaints filed at the Commission, it has formed different investigation teams to monitor and prepare field report after making field inspections on the alleged misuses. The teams have been looking minutely on the irregularities both inside and outside the valley, reports said.

According to reports CIAA is doing field investigation in the government hospitals of Janakpur, Biratnagar, Rajbiraj, Birjung and Nepalgunj.

"The preliminary investigation has found that the hospital authorities have distributed stalls without meeting competitive bidding criteria: renting the stalls to single persons for a long time, and the renter giving the stalls to second or third persons on hire," reports quoted investigation officer of CIAA as saying.

Similarly, the Commission has also instructed the concerned authorities to suspend the illegally recruited employees in the hospitals, as some employees have been found to be non-Nepalese. nepalnews.com pb Nov 14
