TU confers degrees to 21,975
Tribhuvan University (TU) on Tuesday conferred degrees to 21,975 students at its 32nd Convocation at the University complex.
A total of 17,483 students received their Bachelor's degree, 4,449 Master's degree and 43 were given PhD in various streams.
The degrees were conferred in management, humanities and social science, education, law, medicine, science and technology, engineering, forest science and agriculture and livestock sciences.
In his inaugural address, TU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr Gonvinda Prasad Sharma said TU is introducing conflict management, biotechnology and MBA from the new academic session.
Chief Guest of the function former vice chancellor of India's Jawaharlal Nehru University and a member of the council of economic advisor to the Indian Prime Minister G.K Chadha spoke of the need to modernize the country's education system and asked the government to initiate efforts in this regard.
Stating that the country could not make progress unless it adopts a practical education policy he added that the country should not forget its culture and history while adopting education policy.
Minister for Education and Sports Radha Krishna Mainali gave away certificates and medals to excellent students of various faculties on the occasion. nepalnews.com pb Nov 23 05
