Parties-Maoist agreement unnatural: Satchit
Former Royal Nepalese Army (RNA) chief and member of Raj Parishad Standing Committee, Satchit Shumsher JB Rana has described the recent 12-point agreement between the seven political parties and the Maoist as being “unnatural and unholy”.
Speaking at a face-to-face program organised by the Reporters’ Club Nepal in the capital Wednesday, Rana said, “The agreement between the parties and the Maoists is unnatural and unholy. The people should not back their alliance.”
He even suggested the state should take action against the seven political parties for forging ties with the ‘terrorists’.
“The political parties have formed an unnatural coalition with the Maoists under the guidance of the foreigners,” Rana, a staunch royalist, said and added that the King was not going to yield to the demand of the parties and the Maoists for an election to the constituent assembly.
Speaking at the same program, Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Kamal Thapa said as the stance of the Maoists has not changed, this “unnatural coalition” between the seven parties and the Maoists will spur more anarchy, conflict and bloodshed”.
Thapa added, “The agreement between the Maoists and the political parties will rather complicate the peace process while the issue of disarming the Maoists and the army under the supervision of the United Nations at the time of constituent assembly is a laughing matter.”
“The leaders who have been head of the government have failed to realise the difference between the Maoist’s army and the Royal Nepalese Army and this only reflects the level of their ideological bankruptcy.” nepalnews.com sg Nov 23 05
