HM conferred honorary doctorate by Russian University
His Majesty King Gyanendra has been conferred the title of honorary doctorate by the State Technical University (MADI), one of the oldest universities in Russia.
The University has decided to open a research hall in honour of His Majesty the King with inscription on His Majesty's illustrious and visionary personality, Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) reported citing the Royal Nepalese Embassy in Moscow.
The University has also decided to observe the opening day of the hall as a 'Nepal Day' annually, the press release said.
The authorities of the University are eagerly seeking an opportunity for an audience with His Majesty the King to confer the title.
Nepal's Foreign Minister Ramesh Nath Pandey who is currently on an official visit to Russia visited the University and exchanged views with the Dean and senior faculty members of the University Wednesday afternoon.
He lauded the role of the University for producing highly qualified Nepalese manpower over the years and expressed the confidence for the continuation of cooperation in future.
Pandey also met the Nepalese students at the University and asked them to work for the enhancement of their country's image and prestige in keeping with the glorious traditions, the press release said.
