Overall air quality improves in Capital
The overall air quality in Kathmandu Valley improved from October 16 to 22 as compared to the previous week.
According to the data recorded by the Ministry of Environment and Population, the weekly averages of the air pollution levels (based on the daily averages) registered a decrease in all monitoring stations except Bhaktapur monitoring stations as compared to the previous week.
The Bhaktapur monitoring station recorded slight increase in the pollution level, as three day’s data of the monitoring station were not available last week.
The Putalisadak area monitoring station was the most polluted site recording a weekly average of 105.16 PM10, down from the previous period's 110.00PM10.
The Patan Hospital, Thamel, and Bhaktapur area were respectively the second, third and fourth polluted sites in the Valley during the period recording a weekly average of 88.42 PM10, 63.57 PM10 and 46.42 PM10 down from 118.57 PM10, 72.14 PM10 and 44.50 PM10 respectively.
Matsyagaon area recorded a weekly average of 15.42 PM10 down from 17.85 PM10, while Kirtipur area recorded a weekly average of 10.25. The data of Kritipur monitoring station were not available last week.
