Six students arrested from protest rally in Kathmandu
At least six student leaders were arrested from a protest rally organised by student organizations against the recent media ordinance in Kathmandu Thursday evening.
The students including joint general secretary of the Nepal Students Union, Kalyan Gurung, were arrested as soon as the protest rally, which started from Maitighar, arrived at Dillibazaar.
The protesters chanted slogans against the restrictive media ordinance as well as the royal government.
They said the rally was organised to make successful the bandh (general
strike) called by seven agitating political parties in Kathmandu
to protest against the new curbs on independent media. nepalnews.com
