CZOP welcomes announcement of ceasefire

The National Coalition for Children as Zones of Peace (CZOP) has welcomed the announcement by the Maoists of a ceasefire.

A statement sent by the Coalition said it hopes that this process will contribute to protect and promote the rights and welfare of Nepalese children.

The Coalition has again urged the parties to the conflict to put into practice the commitments made by them in keeping school premises free from violence and weapons, create a suitable atmosphere for regular and unhindered curricular activities in schools and extend full cooperation in the efforts to keep the children and schools free from political activities and the impacts of conflict
