| Valley records lowest rainfall in a decade
Rainfall in Kathmandu valley this year could be the lowest it has seen in a decade. The Valley has seen only 70.4 percent of the average rainfall so far.
A Rising Nepal report quoting a senior divisional meteorologist at the Department of Meteorology said though three weeks of rainfall in September was left, it was unlikely the average rainfall amount will be reached.
The rainfall in the Valley was below normal in 1991, 1992 and 1993; the lowest in 1991 with only 66 percent of the average. Kathmandu received 96 percent of the average rainfall in 2004.
The rains this monsoon season has been below average across the country, the report said. nepalnews.com dr Sep 07 05
