Their Majesties visit Lalitpur

His Majesty King Gyanendra and Queen Komal visited Lalitpur district in the capital Thursday as part of the their unofficial tour to the central development region.

Thousands of ordinary people and senior government officials welcomed Their Majesties when they arrived at Jawalakhel at 10:45 a.m. at Kupandole. The King heard the grievances of ordinary men and women lined up on the street.

This was the first public interaction of the King in the capital after his Feb 1 ‘power grab’, although he has engaged in similar interactions with general people in several districts outside the capital.

Following his public appearance, the King granted collective audience to the chairmen and vice-chairmen of District Development Committees (DDC) of Bagmati Zone.

Instructing the DDC representatives at the Bagmati Zonal Administration Office, the King asked them to expedite development works by forging coordination and cooperation from the people and the security agencies.

Their Majesties had last week visited Makwanpur, Parsa and Bara districts of the central development region. nepalnews.com mk/pb Sep 22 05
