NSP-A to reconsider constitutional monarchy
The National Cadres Conference of the Nepal Sadbhawana Party-Anandidevi
(NSP-A) concluded in Janakpurdham on Monday adopting a six-point
declaration, which includes the agenda of reconsidering its stance on
constitutional
monarchy.
The conference adopted the proposal filed by 21 district presidents of the
party demanding to delete the provision of constitutional monarchy from the
party statute, according to reports.
The meeting only adopted the proposal as it does not have the mandate to
amend the party statute.
The party has said that the problems dogging the country could be resolved
only through the elections of the constituent assembly.
Stating that active role of monarchy is not acceptable to the country,
people and the party; the party said that it could be harmful to the
institution of monarchy as well.
The meeting also protested the king's directives to shift zonal and
regional headquarters from terai region saying it is against the madhesi
community.
NSP-A is the third party to reconsider the role of constitutional monarchy.
Earlier Nepali Congress deleted the provision of constitutional monarchy
from its statute and CPN-UML has decided to go for a democratic republic. nepalnews.com pb Sep 27 05
