Maoist atrocities on, abduct over 250 students: RNA

The Royal Nepalese Army has said that Maoist's atrocities are on even after the declaration of a three month long ceasefire.

A statement issued by the Directorate of Public Relations (DPR) of the Royal Nepalese Army on Wednesday has said that Maoists abducted more than 250 students from different parts of the country.

Maoists kidnapped more than 200 students from the schools of Sankh and Chakhawang areas of Rukum on Monday and took them to undisclosed locations, the statement added.

The DPR also said that the Maoists have kidnapped about 70 persons, including students of class 6 and above from Kalagaon, Chapamandou, Darna Sutar, Malatikot, Bannanoli, Devsthan, Mellekh, Batulesen areas of Accham district on Sunday. Similarly, Maoists also kidnapped two people from Thumkiba of Taplejung on the same day.

The army statement also said that every evening, the Maoists round up the students of Wagla VDC of Gulmi district and force them to parade.

The army also said that the Maoists kidnapped a home-bound soldier at Baddanda of Dhungegadhi VDC of Pyuthan.

Maoists severely beat up former ward chairman of Okharpouwa VDC of Kathmandu Tej Bahadur Lama on September 21. Two days later, Maoists torched a mini truck at Phikkal Bazaar of Ilam, the statement further said.

The DPR also said that Maoist cadre Santa Bir BK of Kunja of Mustang surrendered to the security forces on Sunday shunning the group.
