10 killed in Malangwa attack; helicopter crashes

At least 10 people were killed when Maoists attacked Malangwa, the district headquarter of Sarlahi district on Wednesday night.
According to security sources, five policemen, three Maoists and two civilians were killed when Maoists launched simultaneous attack at all government security agencies of Malangawa and Arjunband barrack of the Royal Nepalese Army (RNA) in Nawalpur.
A night vision helicopter that had flown to support the security agencies was found crashed.
According to reports, the fighting started at around 9 in the evening and lasted till late night.
According to locals, Maoists used modern weapons and detonated powerful bombs during the attack.
Maoists destroyed government offices including the District Administration Office, District Development Office and District Jail.
The security personnel took the situation into control with strong retaliation in Nawalpur, according to reports.
