Government, rebels agree to send joint letter to UN (3:15 pm)

The government and the Maoists have agreed to send a joint letter the United Nations (UN) asking the global body to assist Nepal peace process.

Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala and Maoist chairman Prachanda signed the letter after an hour-long meeting between them at Prime Minister’s residence this afternoon.

The government and Maoist’s talks teams are scheduled to handover the letter to the Acting Chief of the UN system in Kathmandu Abraham Abraham at the peace secretariat, shortly.

The UN team had already reached to the peace secretariat to receive the letter.
