TU teachers announce fresh agitation
The temporary teachers of the state-run Tribhuvan University (TU) have announced fresh agitation programmes demanding permanency of job.
The teachers have said a half hour protest programme will be organized daily at Ratna Park and will be intensified if the government failed to listen to them. Similarly, they have locked up the office of all campus chiefs in Kathmandu this morning.
President of the TU Temporary Teachers Association Nanda Kishor Singh had begun his indefinite hunger strike in Ratna Park from Monday.
The teachers have put forward a one point demand that all those who have taught at least for one year under temporary basis should be declared permanent on the basis of course contract.
The teachers have been agitating for four years. Despite several assurances from the parties during the people's movement, the government has not given attention to address the issue raised by the teachers. nepalnews.com ia Aug 15 06
