Civil society to launch movement for republican set up

With the aim of pushing for the establishment of a democratic republic through the formation of a Constituent Assembly, the Civil Movement for Democracy and Social Transformation (CMDST) is planning to hold a “civic movement” in different parts of the country from Thursday.

The CMDST will hold its programmes in Biratnagar, Nepalgunj, Dhangadi, Pokhara and Hetaunda between August 17 and September 1.

“We will first stage programmes outside Kathmandu seeking the participation of civilians in our drive,” report quoted Dr. Arjun Karki, president of the NGO Federation at a press meet held by the CMDST on Tuesday.
