No interim govt., house dissolution before arms management: PM
Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala has said that the dissolution of the present parliament and formation of the interim government would begin only after settling the issue of arms management of the Maoists.
Talking to newspersons in his hometown Biratnagar on Wednesday, Koirala said the Maoists would get a seat in the interim government only after their arms are managed.
Members of the House of Representatives of the major coalition partners in the Seven Party Alliance (SPA) including the UML have strongly criticized the agreement between reached the SPA and the Maoists regarding the decision of the party leadership to dissolve the house while the civil society and the Maoists have been demanding immediate dissolution of the parliament.
Earlier, Koirala had asked the talks team to take both political and arms management issues together.
Koirala also informed that the process of arms management would begin after consultation with the United Nations team, which he said will arrive within the next two to three weeks.
He repeated his commitment to the peace process and vowed to work his best to make sure that the Maoists do not take up arms again.
Maoists supremo Prachanda on Sunday said they would not return to jungle for armed rebellion but also stated the Maoist army would not disarm before elections to the constituent assembly.
