NA Boeing makes an emergency landing in New Delhi
A Boeing aircraft of Nepal Airlines heading for Dubai with 190 passengers made an emergency landing at New Delhi on Wednesday after a technical snag in one of its engines.
The 757 Boeing diverted to New Delhi 30 minutes after take-off after the pilots of the plane detected overheating in its left engine.
First they tried to cool the engine by lessening the power. However, they decided to turn off the engine after their attempt failed, and landed in New Delhi on one engine, reports quoted a source at the airlines as saying.
A team of technicians including in-flight engineer B N Jha tried to fix the problem.
Following the emergency landing at New Delhi, the international flight schedules of NAC, which now has only one Boeing 757 in operation, has been badly affected.
According to sources, the pilots had been complaining about the overheating problem since the last two weeks but concerned engineers had been granting flight permission citing the problem as normal. nepalnews.com pb Aug 18 06
