Maoists beat UML cadre; locals hand over Maoists to police
Continuing their atrocities breaching the ceasefire code of conduct and various agreements reached with ruling seven party alliance, an armed group of 20 Maoists Saturday abducted Raj Kumar Kusiyat of Shripur Jabdi-5 from his house.
The rebels arrived at his house in a white microbus (Sa 1 Pa 1167) and took him away in a state of undress as he was taking a bath at the time, said his family members, reports The Kathmandu Post daily.
Meanwhile, in Dailekh, Tilak Pariyar, "chief of the Maoist village government" last Friday beat up Bhupendra Jung Shahi, chairman of the management committee of a secondary school in Dandaparajul VDC. Shahi, an active CPN-UML cadre, sustained serious injuries due to the beating.
He was rushed to a hospital in Surkhet for treatment after Maoists prevented them from entering the district headquarters, said his family members.
Meanwhile, locals of Dubarkot in Dhanusha district on Saturday apprehended four Maoist cadres and subsequently handed them over to the police, the paper adds.
The Maoists were apprehended on the charge of forcibly making a school principal sign "contract papers" that said the principal would pay them money.
The irate locals had captured Suresh Mandal, Arun Kumar Mandal, Biltu Mandal and Fekan Mandal from a local hotel at the railway station and took them around Janakpur city with their hands tied behind their back. They were later handed over to the District Police Office. nepalnews.com pb Aug 27 06
