Boys Union Club (BUC) held Nabil Three Star Club (NTSC) 2-2 to frustrate NTSC while the Army barely defeated Brigade Boys Club (BBC) 2-1 to go atop the San Miguel "A" Division League standing in the matches played at the Dashrath Stadium, Kathmandu, on Tuesday.
Coming twice from behind, NTSC took the match very lightly from the start as they performed a very dismal game to share honour with minnows BUC. The story was filled with misery for NTSC as BUC took the lead in the 5th minute through Amar Subba but the credit went to Bhupen Limbu whose powerful free-kick from 25 yard distance trampled NTSC's experienced goalie Upendra Man Singh to let Subba kick inside an open post.
But, NTSC leveled the score in the 16th minute through Nigerian recruit Obagbemiro Junior. Junior made no mistake while netting the spot kick after he was brought down by Amar Subba inside the box. But, BUC took a lead again in the 26th minute through Dipendra Pariyar who netted cleverly with a right footed shot dodging goalie Upendra Man Singh.
However, lemon break charged Bal Gopal's men and they leveled the score through Pradeep Maharjan in the 50th minute. Maharjan netted an excellent goal but his effort was in vain when the Patan based club couldn't score more goals to earn complete three points. NTSC has already squandered eight points with two losses and one draw.
The story was almost quite similar to league pace-settler Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) who defeated Brigade Boys Club 2-1 thanks to goals from Bikarna Shrestha and Chun Bahadur Thapa.
TAC was ahead early in the 4th minute through Bikarna Shrestha but BBC leveled the score in the 50th minute through Gyanendra Limbu who dribbled past as many as three defenders before firing an excellent goal. But, it was again Chun Bahadur Thapa who rescued the team scoring a match winning goal in the 71st minute to lead his team on the top. Thapa netted off a header utilising the cross from Raju Tamang. Earlier, Chun Bahadur Thapa had scored a match winning goal against JYC in the wee hours.
BBC goalie had to leave the ground due to injury. Substitute goalie Padam Hang Limbu looked hopeless but saved one dangerous attempt in the 70th minute. nepalnews.com bt Dec 05 06
