Donors urge govt to make appointments in key state agencies

Representatives of the donor countries have urged the government to appoint officials in various government agencies including the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) at the earliest.

The envoys of Finland, England, Denmark, France and few other foreign diplomats jointly met with Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala Friday morning and urged him to make appointments in key agencies like the NHRC, National Women Commission and Dalit Commission.

The diplomats are learnt to have suggested the government for new appointments so that these agencies could resume their regular works thereby contributing in the peace process.

The government formed after the restoration of democracy has so far appointed the officials only at the National Election Commission. Major constitutional bodies remain without senior officials for months now. nepalnews.com ia Dec 08 06
