Four security posts added in Chitwan
With the increase of poaching incidents, the Department for National Parks and Wildlife Reserve has added four security posts inside Chitwan National Park .
Three posts in Amrite, Kujauli and Botesimara have been replaced – they had been abandoned due to conflict in the past. Another post in Narayani Tapu has also been set up.
Following reports that ten rhinos have been killed in the past six months by poachers, a team led by the chief of the department Shyam Bajimaya also visited the national park. He said that the government has decided to increase the security posts in the coming days.
Earlier, the Supreme Court, too, had ordered the government to provide adequate security to the national park. There were around 34 security posts in and around the park in the past. However, due to conflict, the number of posts have now come down to 10. nepalnews.com sd Dec 11 06
