Normal life in nine eastern districts have been affected due to the bandh (shut down) called by the Limbuwan Swayatta Sarokar Manch (Limbuwan Liberation Concern Forum) demanding to declare the districts a Limbuwan autonomous region.

The organisers also alleged that the ruling seven party alliance and the Maoists have ignored their demands to introduce a Limbuwan autonomous region during the elections for the constituent assembly.

Activists organised a rally and burnt tyres on the roads.

All shops, educational institutions and industries remained closed, while transportation movement came to a standstill due to the strike.

The protestors burnt a motorcycle and vandalized over half dozen vehicles plying in the streets defying the bandh in Jhapa district. nepalnews.com pb Dec 12 06
