RPP chief Rana rules out any relation with King

Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) chairman Pashupati Shumsher Rana

Chairman of Rastriya Prajatantra Party Pashupati Shumser JB Rana has said that he has no relation with the King.

Addressing a press meet in Banke on Wednesday, Rana said, "I have no contact with the King. I have not met him even at any informal gathering."

Rana also informed that the official statement of RPP regarding monarchy would be declared after announcement of dates of elections of the constituent assembly.

Rana called upon all members of the RPP splinter group to return to the mother party; he however cautioned them not to come back with pro-active monarchy notions.

"All can return but not even a whiff of monarchy is accepted," The RPP chief warned.

RPP divided into three factions after the King sacked elected Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and started appointing hand-picked Prime Ministers.

Rana blamed the government and the ruling seven party alliance and the Maoists of being exclusive and non-democratic by not including his party in preparing the draft of the interim constitution. nepalnews.com pb Dec 14 06
