NANDRON formed

A group of Nepalis in North America have formed the North American Network for Democratic Republic of Nepal (NANDRON) with the objective of acting as an advocacy and watch-dog group to help republican democrats in Nepal in their quest to institutionalize peace, democracy and development with the replacement of antiquated monarchy by a new Republic of Nepal through democratically elected constituent assembly election scheduled in June 2007.

An Ad-hoc Central Coordination Committee headed by Dr. Chitra Tiwari was formed. The Central Coordinator will coordinate NANDRON from Washington , D.C.

Tiwari said that creation of the network of Nepalis in North America was necessitated in view of the delayed response of the political parties and the government of the seven-party alliance to announce an interim constitution and form the interim government to facilitate the proposed elections to constituent assembly elections in June.

Dr. Tiwari says NANDRON members have pledged to stand behind all republican democrats, irrespective of their political party affiliations, in Nepal . nepalnews.com pb Dec 15 06
