Cabinet meeting passes citizenship regulation; approves National Emblem
The cabinet meeting has passed Regulation related to the Citizenship Act.
The parliament recently passed the Citizenship Bill with the view of providing citizenship to all Nepalis deprived from citizenship certificates before the elections of the constituent assembly.
Meanwhile, Friday’s cabinet meeting held at Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar also approved National Emblem.
The meeting also discussed the appointment of ambassadors for different countries, informed a member of the council.
According to cabinet sources, the ambassadors however, will be appointed only after discussion with the Maoists.
According to radio reports, the cabinet meeting also decided to establish Nepali embassies in the Republic of Korea, Australia and Denmark.
The meeting also passed a regulation regarding compilation of voters list, under which anyone who completes 18 years by December 15 will be incorporated in the voters list.
The cabinet meeting discussed the activities of various ministries. The previous meetings could not discuss these issues as all the meetings were focused on political agendas.
Similarly, the meeting also decided to give inflation allowance to teachers. However the amount of allowance is yet to be fixed.
Ministers also expressed serious concern over the Maoist’s act of obstructing re-establishment of police posts in various parts of the country.
Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala assured to take up the issue with the Maoist supremo Prachanda, sources said.
The meeting also discussed the draft of interim constitution, which is yet to be finalized. nepalnews.com pb Dec 15 06
