Special cabinet meeting this afternoon

A special meeting of the council of ministers is taking place at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar Monday afternoon.

According to reports, the special meeting is expected to discuss the recently signed interim constitution and appointments in various posts.

Top leaders of the ruling seven political parties and Maoists signed the interim constitution on Saturday, which will be promulgated after the UN team starts monitoring of Maoist arms and armies.

Friday’s cabinet meeting had passed a regulation governing compilation of voters list, approved a new national crest and decided to establish Nepalese embassies in Australia, Denmark and South Korea.

The cabinet source added that today’s meeting is likely to announce Nepali envoys to 13 countries apart from naming chief of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and commissioners of Election Commission (EC) and other constitutional bodies. nepalnews.com pb Dec 18 06
