Students obstruct meeting of RPP Nepal
The pro-Maoist All Nepal National Independent Student Union–Revolutionary (ANNISU-R) have obstructed the meeting of pro-royalist Rastriya Prajatantra Party Nepal.
Maoist students took party leaders assembled for the national meeting of candidates elected from the party in local bodies in the elections during the direct rule of the King, into control from the programme venue at Yak Party Palace of Narayani hotel in Pulchowk and forced then to chant anti-monarchy slogans.
The party is organizing the central regional meeting of the party tomorrow at Nepal Academy.
Talking to Nepalnews following the incident, party president Rabindra Nath Sharma said that today’s meeting was the national meeting of the elected representatives of local bodies and added that the party is holding its central regional meeting on Tuesday.
He further said that his party would not deviated from its principle from such attacks, adding, “The incident proves that there was no presence of government in the country.”
He further said that the incidents proved that the commitment of the political parties and government to guarantee personal freedom and political freedom is just limited in paper.
Over a dozen Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal activists were injured in a clash with students on December 15, when RPP-N activists were chanting pro-King slogans while submitting a memorandum to the prime minister.
