Maoists abduct mayoral candidate

In a bid to disrupt the municipal polls, the Maoists abducted Ram Kumar Tharu, district committee member of Nepal Sadbhavana Party (NSP), who has announced candidacy for the post of Mayor of the Gulariya municipality from his residence at ward number 6 of Gulariya municipality of western Nepal.

According to reports from the district, a group of three Maoists abducted him on Wednesday, saying they (Maoists) have something to discuss with him.

He was abducted one day before the filing of candidacy for the upcoming municipal polls.

Earlier, Maoists murdered Bijay Lal Das, a mayoral candidate of the NSP in Janakpur on Sunday. nepalnews.com pb Jan 26 05
