Dawa sets fast Everest climb record
Dawa Sherpa has become the world's first ever speed climber to scale Mt Everest from the base camp on the Tibetan side and descend to the base camp in Nepal. The mountaineer claimed it took him 20 hours and 15 minutes to complete the mission.
Dawa, in his solo climb, began on May 21 at 9 p.m. from the base camp on the Tibetan side, reached the summit at 8.40 a.m. on May 22 and arrived at the Everest Base Camp (Nepal side) at 5.15 p.m. the same day.
