PM holds informal talks with Maoist leaders; SPA leaders joining talks (update)
Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala held informal talks with Maoist supremo Prachanda at the prime minister’s residence in Baluwatar Friday morning.
Prachanda is accompanied by Maoist number two Dr. Bhattarai, coordinator of the Maoist talk team Krishna Bahadur Mahara and members Dina Nath Sharma and Dev Gurung.
Home Minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula was also present during the meeting.
Maoist supremo Prachanda and Bhattarai arrived in the capital for the talks on an Air Dynasty helicopter this morning from Pokhara in Western Nepal.
According to our correspondent on the scene, leaders of seven political parties are reaching Baluwatar to hold talks with the Maoist leaders.
It is said that the leaders of seven political parties will hold summit talks with the Maoist leaders at Baluwatar.
However, both sides are yet to confirm the summit talks.
The meeting would, in principle, decide on an interim statute and an interim government for holding the election of the constituent assembly. nepalnews.com pb June 16 06
