Renowned musician Dibya Khaling dies

Renowned lyricist and music composer Dibya Khaling passed away at the age of 56 on Sunday.

Khaling died while undergoing treatment for cardiac ailment at a nursing home at Siliguri in West Bengal.

Khaling has rendered music for some 1,000 songs including the famous Ma ta laligurans bhayechhu... , Hey Bir Hinda Aghi Sari, Malai na Sodha Kaha Dukhchha Ghau and plays and films.

Khaling was born in Darjeeling in 1952, and moved to Nepal and worked with Radio Nepal and contributed for the development of music sector of the country.

Though he had made an important contribution to the development of Nepali music, he however, was not granted Nepali citizenship.

Khaling is survived by one wife, two sons and one daughter. nepalnews.com pb June 26 06
