Maoist violating code of conduct; continuing military-recruitments: NA
The Nepali Army (NA) has said that Maoists have been violating the code of conduct signed by both the government and the Maoists on Friday.
A press statement issued by the Directorate of Public Relations (DPR) of NA on Monday said, Maoists on Sunday made large military-recruitments in several places of Nawalparasi district.
Rebels have been training new recruits at the district's Chisapani and Bagiacha areas and "advertising" for new staff, the DPR statement added.
The move comes at a time when the Maoist leadership is asking the government to restructure the army merging their Army and Nepal Army.
The statement further said the whereabouts of a local businessman Mohanlal Shrestha, who was abducted by the Maoists, is unknown.
A report from Dhangadhi said, Maoists abducted seven students of Alliance Boarding School from the district headquarters Dhangadi bazaar on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the students' families have appealed for speedy release of their children.
However, Maoists released 10 people, whom they had abducted on May 17.
Likewise, a report from Gulmi said, the rebels have requested secretaries of village development committees to return to their respective villages and start their duties.
Earlier, talking to Nepalnews on Monday, one of the members of the Maoist talks team, Dina Nath Sharma, ruled out media reports that they are violating code of conduct and expressed commitment to it.
