CPN-UML to hold central committee meeting next week
The meeting of the standing committee of the CPN-UML was held this morning in the capital with the objective of discussing the party's strategy in the aftermath of agreement between the Seven Party Alliance (SPA) government and the Maoists.
Although the party has recorded Note of Dissent on two issues, today's meeting concluded that the agreement was 'historic.' It expressed its firm commitment to implement the agreement. The meeting also called for completing all prescribed tasks on stipulated time as mentioned in the agreement.
Meanwhile, the party is going to hold a meeting of its central committee on November 23-24. Sources said, the central committee meeting will determine party's strategy in the days ahead.
The party had while signing the November 8 agreement, recorded Note of Dissent on two points of the pact including the method of determining the fate of monarchy through the first meeting of CA and of employing mixed electoral system for CA elections. The party had stated that it believed referendum was the best method for determining monarchy's fate; and Proportional Representation system was the best electoral method for holding elections of CA. nepalnews.com sd Nov 17 06
