Peace accord to be signed this evening
The government and the Maoists are signing the peace accord this evening, declaring the end of the decade-long Maoist war in the country.
The peace accord, which was finalised by a meeting between Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala and Maoist chairman Prachanda at Baluwatar this afternoon, is being signed at around 6:30 pm.
PM Koirala on behalf of the seven-party alliance and Prachanda on behalf of the CPN (Maoist) would sign the landmark accord amidst a ceremony at the Birendra International Convention Centre (BICC) at Baneshwor.
