NOC, tanker drivers agree to resume POL transportation
The Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has said supply of petroleum in the market would be normal by tomorrow morning.
Deputy General Manager of the NOC Benu Bikram Panta told Nepalnews that transportation of the petroleum products has already begun from Birgunj after an agreement was reached between the tanker drivers and the NOC on Thursday morning.
A team of NOC officials had reached Birgunj to hold discussion with the tanker drivers and continue the transportation of the POL products.
Panta said the tanker drivers have agreed to resume the transportation with assurance from the NOC officials that their demands would be presented before the board of directors of the NOC. He said decision on the demands would be taken within a month.
The tanker drivers had launched a strike paralysing the supply network since the last three days. They have been demanding changes in the provision of shrinkage, reduction in fines and changes in procedure of measuring the volume of the fuel.
At the same time, Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) has cut short the supply of POL products since a month in order to press NOC pay the outstanding dues worth billions of rupees. nepalnews.com ia Nov 23 06
