Senior ADB officials to visit Nepal to discuss rehabilitation and reconstruction process
A high level delegation of Asian Development Bank (ADB) led by of ADB's South Asia Department Sultan Hafeez Rahman is arriving in Nepal on Friday to access the latest situation of the country.
A press release issued by ADB country office Nepal, stated that during the 6-day long visit to Nepal Rahman will discuss country's situation and plans for accelerating development activities which have been suffering due to the conflict, with all stakeholders.
“The mood in the country is upbeat because of the peace accord and I hope that it will be implemented sincerely in line with aspirations of all Nepalis for peace and prosperity,” the statement quoted Rahman as saying.
During his visit to Nepal Rahman will meet with the Finance Minister, Minister of Physical Planning and Works, Chief Secretary, other senior Government officials and representatives of other development agencies to discuss ADB's support to Nepal in the rehabilitation and reconstruction process with the Government and other development partners.
The international communities have hailed the signing of comprehensive peace accord by both the government and the Maoists and described it as an opportunity for making a new Nepal. nepalnews.com pb Nov 23 06
