Simrik Air chopper force-lands in Jumla
A Simrik Air helicopter flying to Rarali area of the mid-western district of Jumla force-landed near Rarali Thursday afternoon.
The 9N-ADO MI-17 chopper carrying food grains from Surkhet force-landed in the area at around 4:00 p.m. “due to bad weather”.
All four airline officials including crewmembers are safe and they are in contact with their office, a Simrik Air official told Nepalnews, informing that the force-landing caused minor damage to the tail rotor of the helicopter.
He claimed that the helicopter is in a condition to fly back after minor maintenance. Rescue helicopter is yet to land in the area as the weather condition has not improved.
The chopper was hired by the World Food Program (WFP) to deliver food grains to famine-hit Jumla villages. nepalnews.com mk Nov 23 06
