German government pledges assistance for drought and flood victims
The German government has pledged an assistance of 500,000 Euros as grant aid to the World Food Programme for food aid in drought and flood affected areas of Nepal.
A press release issued by the German Embassy in Kathmandu, German projects have contributed more than 120,000 Euros in support activities for flood and drought victims.
Nepal witnessed a drought adversely affecting the winter crop production. The situation worsened due to late start of the monsoon rains. Then, heavy rains led to floods damaging agricultural areas and infrastructure.
The statement further informed that a German team headed by Kanera, Head of the South Asia Division from the Federal Ministry for Economic Co-operation and Development (BMZ), is arriving in Nepal on Sunday to held negotiations on economic cooperation.
