Prajatantrik Nepal Party decides to merge with Rastriya Janashakti Party

Former Prime Minister Surya Bahadur Thapa

As political polarization is getting momentum in Nepal before the elections of the constituent assembly, two political parties led by former royalists had decided to merge their parties.

The Rastriya Janashakti Party, led by former Prime Minister Surya Bahadur Thapa and Prajatantrik Nepal Party, led by former minister Keshar Bahadur Bista decided to merge their parties.

Thapa was appointed for the post of Prime Minister after King sacked elected Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and Bista served as minister in a cabinet under the chairmanship of King.

A joint meeting of the central committees of both the parties took the decision to this effect.

The meeting has also decided to function as the RJP in future and former Premier Thapa will led the united party. nepalnews.com pb Nov 26 06
