Eight killed, two missing in separate road mishaps

Eight people have died in road accidents in less than 24 hours in different parts of the country.

Three officials of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) were killed when a jeep they were traveling in skidded off the road and plunged into a ravine at Jurikhet area in Bhimbhedi VDC of Makwanpur district at around 4:00 Wednesday afternoon, reports.

Head of the audit section of the NEA head office in Kathmandu, Ramesh Kumar Shah, computer operator Baldev Shah and driver Deepak Rana Magar died in the accident, reports said. The jeep was en route to Kathmandu from Hetauda.

Another NEA official Ram Krishna Jha, who was seriously injured in the accident, is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Bharatpur.

In Chitwan, a 15-year old boy was killed when a truck hit him at Bhandara this morning.

In another fatal accident, two persons were killed when a truck they were traveling in overturned on the road at Puranchour in Kaski district last night.

Similarly, two persons on a motorbike died on the spot when a truck hit their motorbike on the Mehandra Highway in Kanchanpur district last evening.

Meanwhile, two persons went missing when a tanker carrying aviation fuel from Birgunj to Kathmandu met with an accident at Chhahara area in Gajuri VDC, Dhading district, early Wednesday morning.

Whereabouts of the driver and the helper of the Na-1-kha 4763 remain unknown after the accident, according to reports. nepalnews.com mk Nov 29 06
