FNCCI to shut down businesses for one day
As a part of their symbolic protest against what they term as excesses from the state as well as the Maoists, the business community has announced to shut down all business across the country on coming Tuesday (October 17)
A meeting of National Agitation Committee formed by the Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) on Monday decided to go for symbolic shut down in order to press their five-points demand that include providing peace and security; ending extortion and resolving labor and trade union disputes.
The demand was made during the recently held national convention of business community in Birgunj. The same convention had formed the agitation committee headed by FNCCI president Chandi Raj Dhakal.
The committee has also demanded that their issues be addressed by the ongoing talks between seven parties and the Maoists. nepalnews.com sd Oct 10 06
