Top leaders of four parties meeting in Baluwatar
Top leaders of major four parties – Nepali Congress, NC (Democratic), Unified Marxist Leninist (UML) and Maoists – are meeting currently in Baluwatar at the official residence of the Prime Minister.
PM Girija Prasad Koirala, who is also the president of NC; Maoist chairman Prachanda; UML general secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal and NC-Democratic president Sher Bahadur Deuba are attending this meeting. Maoist leaders Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, Ram Bahadur Thapa aka Badal and Krishna Bahadur Mahara are also attending the meeting.
The meeting is said to be aimed at resolving the hitherto unresolved issues such as arms management, status of monarchy and modalities of interim arrangement including interim parliament and interim government.
The meeting is being held in the run up to the summit meeting that will kick off at the same venue from 2 pm today.
Meanwhile, talks teams of the government as well as the Maoists are engaged in separate meetings this morning. They have been assigned by Tuesday's summit meeting to explore points of commonalities. nepalnews.com sd Oct 12 06
