Indian assistance for two schools in Mustang

The government of India has pledged assistance worth over 52 million rupees for two schools in remote Mustang district.

A press statement issued by the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu, Friday, said, the Indian government has pledged over 26 million rupees for construction of school building with provision of furniture for Shree Janhit Secondary School, Jomsom and over 26 million for construction of school building, hostel, teacher’s quarters and for the purchase of furniture for Shree Mahakaruna Sakyapa Vidyalaya Lomangthang, Upper Mustang.

Dr. Kheya Bhattacharya, minister, Economic Cooperation of the Embassy of India inaugurated the construction of school buildings amidst two separate function held in Mustang, Friday.

“The additional infrastructure will greatly contribute to quality education by providing better environment for learning for the boys and girls in the remote area of Lomangthang and Jomsom,” the statement added.

Other speakers at the meeting expressed deep appreciation for India’s continuing contribution in the education and infrastructure sector, extending upto the remote areas of Nepal.

These two school projects are the first educational projects in Mustang District undertaken by the Government of India under the India-Nepal Economic Cooperation Program, the statement added. nepalnews.com pb Oct 14 06
