UML general secy. doubts crucial talks before Tihar
General secretary of CPN UML, one of the major constituents of the ruling seven party alliance Madhav Kumar Nepal has expressed doubt about any crucial talks taking place before Tihar (October 24).
His remarks comes at a time leaders of the ruling seven party alliance and the Maoists are reiterating that the peace talks will take a decisive turn before Tihar.
Addressing party cadres in the capital on Wednesday, the UML general secretary said that the peace process is being disrupted by certain quarters.
Nepal went on to add that the love of Nepali Congress for the monarchy and the love of Maoists to the arms are hindering the peace talks from reaching to the logical end.
He further added that delay in the peace talks provides regressive and anti democratic forces ground to play.
He condemned the act of Maoists to attack cadres of other political parties and urged the Maoist leadership to stop such acts as per their commitment to join the politics of competition.
Nepal was referring to the attack by the Maoist affiliated trade union to the UML affiliated trade union General Federation of Nepalese Trade Unions (GEFONT), Monday. 15 members of GEFONT were injured in the incident.
He urged the Maoist leadership to exhibit political character by apologizing to the victims. nepalnews.com pb Oct 19 06
